The body is a satisfying round globe shape with a dramatic iron-red and gold spout and a matching handle that curves like it's been practising. Around the exterior, three hand-painted cartouche panels tell their stories: a geisha beneath blossoming plum branches with a mountain lake behind her; a scholar figure beside a wind-bent pine with a koi fish rendered in gold scales; and a third panel with a figure in a landscape framed by a shoji screen. Between the panels, scattered gold dragonfly and snowflake motifs (tombo and yukiwa) float across the cream ground.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe interior is undecorated white porcelain — clean and practical. The base is unglazed within the foot ring, typical of Kutani export ware of this period.
