Its softly squared shape, wavy rim and gold-coloured scrolling details at the sides make it look as though it has dressed up for visitors. We suggest not telling it the cake came from the supermarket. It does not need to know everything.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe backstamp reads Colclough China, Made in Longton, England, Genuine Bone China. That gives this little piece of English tableware a named maker and place of origin, while its circa-1930 date places it in the interwar period.
