This is a Bohemian glass vase from the 1920s, and it's giving major Art Deco princess vibes with that soft pink glass and gold bands. The color is this gorgeous peachy-pink that changes depending on the light - sometimes it's blush, sometimes it's coral, sometimes it looks like a vintage sunset. The hand-etched flowers and leaves are delicate and detailed, and those gold bands wrapping around the body are still shining after 100+ years of existence. Honestly impressive for gilding that's older than your grandparents.
Bohemian glassmakers in the 1920s were obsessed with color and decoration, and this vase is proof. That pink tint comes from adding minerals to molten glass (science!), and those etched florals were done by hand with acid or wheel-cutting (patience!). The bulbous shape with the narrow neck is peak Art Deco - curvy, elegant, and designed to make a single flower look like a million bucks.
Why this vase slaps:
- 1920s Bohemian glass: Czech craftsmanship from the Art Deco era
- Pink tinted glass: That peachy-pink glow that shifts in different light
- Hand-etched florals: Flowers and leaves cut into the glass by actual humans
- Gold bands: Still intact and shiny after a century (how?)
- 18.5 x 12 cm: Perfect for a dramatic single stem or a small bouquet
- 422 grams: Feels substantial, not flimsy
The condition is suspiciously good for something that's 100 years old. The pink is vibrant, the etching is crisp, the gold hasn't faded. Either someone took really good care of this, or it spent a century in a cabinet being too pretty to use. Use it for flowers (fresh, dried, fake - no judgment), or just display it empty because honestly it's gorgeous enough on its own.
Put a single peony in it and feel fancy. Fill it with wildflowers and feel bohemian (pun intended). Leave it empty on a shelf and feel like you own a piece of 1920s Czech history. All valid choices.
