Antique Silver-Plated Centrepiece Bowl Set of 2 — Art Deco Scalloped, 1920s–30s

This magnificent pair of silver-plated centrepiece bowls from the 1920s–30s has the scale, the presence, and the architectural confidence of the Art Deco era at its most assured. At 36 cm long and over a kilo each, these are not decorative afterthoughts — they are the main event.

Each bowl has a beautifully proportioned oval form with a twelve-lobed scalloped body, two elegant scroll ear handles, and a stepped oval foot. The rim is finished with a fine beaded/gadroon border — a detail that adds refinement without fussiness. The interior is deep and generous, the exterior panels catch the light beautifully, and the overall silhouette is that perfect balance between classical form and Art Deco geometry that defines the best tableware of this period.

Both bowls carry maker's stamps on the base, including what appears to be a date or batch code consistent with early 20th-century production. The silver plating on the exteriors and interiors remains strong and lustrous on both pieces.

Condition note: One bowl shows significant wear to the silver plating on the base (underside only), with the base metal visible over a large area of the foot. This is purely cosmetic and invisible in normal display use — the bowl sits on its foot and the worn area is completely hidden. The exterior, interior, and rim of both bowls are in excellent condition. Priced accordingly.
