Some things are just quietly, effortlessly pretty. This Art Deco pink pressed glass ruffled bowl from around 1925 is one of them. It sits there looking delicate and decorative, with its wavy ruffled rim, its ring of pressed floral medallions, and its starburst base radiating outward like it's showing off — which, honestly, it has every right to do.
The glass is that soft, warm blush pink that the 1920s did so well — not quite rose, not quite peach, just that perfect in-between that catches the light and makes everything around it look better. The pressed relief decoration runs around the inner rim in a repeating pattern of stylised flowers and fine ribbing, with a sunburst of fine lines radiating from the centre base. The ruffled edge adds movement and a touch of drama to what is, technically, a bowl.
Use it as a trinket dish, a ring holder, a centrepiece for a small table, or simply as proof that the 1920s had considerably better taste in glassware than most decades that followed.
