Meet Aynsley Little Sweetheart — and yes, that is the actual name, and yes, it suits this plate perfectly. Made by Aynsley, established in 1775 (so they’ve had a few hundred years to get this right), this is a fine English bone china trinket tray from around the 1980s. It still has its original Aynsley crown label on the front, which means someone has carefully looked after it for over 40 years. You’re welcome to continue that tradition.
The Little Sweetheart pattern is all soft, romantic watercolour florals on a warm ivory-cream ground — oversized blowsy blooms in dusty pink, mauve and grey-blue with sage green leaves, all painted in a dreamy, diffused style that makes everything around it look a little more poetic. No harsh lines, no fussy gold borders. Just pure, gentle 1980s English charm at its very best.
At 11 cm across and a solid 95 grams, it’s the right weight to feel substantial without being dramatic about it. Dressing table, bathroom shelf, kitchen windowsill — wherever you put it, it’ll make the space feel like someone with excellent taste lives there.
