This one came fully equipped. Not just a cloisonné vase, but a cloisonné vase with a matching lid and its own little wooden stand — because apparently someone decided it deserved a throne, and they were absolutely right. The stand elevates it just enough to make it look like it's presenting itself, which, given the quality of the enamelwork, it has every right to do.
The body is covered in the same exquisite ruyi cloud ground as its companion, with a large peony as the centrepiece and cobalt blue banding at neck and base. The lid adds a whole extra layer of detail — more enamel, more gold wire, more patience from whoever made it. The wooden stand is a simple, elegant footing that lifts the piece and protects the base.
