Over 120 years old and still the most interesting thing in the room. This Davidson pressed glass dish from the late Victorian era is the kind of piece that makes antique hunters do a little happy dance when they find it — and rightly so.
George Davidson & Co. of Teams, Gateshead, was one of Victorian Britain's finest pressed glass manufacturers, known for their exceptional quality and intricate patterns. This dish is a perfect example of their craft: a beautifully detailed floral medallion border encircling a crisp starburst centre, all finished with a characteristically elegant scalloped rim. The combination of polished and matte glass on the rim is a deliberate design feature — not wear, but artistry — giving the piece a lovely two-tone effect that catches the light beautifully.
The colour is a fresh, clear green with just enough tint to glow in natural light. At 230g it feels substantial in the hand — proper Victorian quality, not the flimsy stuff.
