Stamped "Hand Painted • Holland • Delfts Blauw" with the windmill mark, this is authentic handgeschilderd Delfts aardewerk from the Netherlands, dating to approximately 1960. The squat, round body with its domed lid and little round knop is a classic form, decorated with a flowing floral motif in rich cobalt blue on a warm cream ground. Every brushstroke is slightly different — because it was painted by an actual human hand, not a machine. Imagine that.
