Edwardian Silver-Plated Egg Cruet Set – EPNS, c.1900

Imagine a Sunday morning in 1900. Someone’s cook has just boiled two perfect eggs, and they arrive at the table on this. Because in Edwardian England, even breakfast was an occasion. This is a complete silver-plated egg cruet set — and it is absolutely magnificent.

The set sits on an oval tray with a beautifully pierced and embossed border of scrolls, shells, and foliage, raised on four elegant lion’s paw feet. At the centre rises a tall, slender stand with a graceful cloud-shaped carrying handle, from which hang two matching egg cups with pierced and scalloped rims. Two original egg spoons with beaded borders complete the set. Everything is present, everything matches, and everything has been lovingly polished.

Marked on the base: EPNS 2365 — Electroplated Nickel Silver, the British standard for quality silver-plated ware, produced in Sheffield or Birmingham circa 1900. Model number 2365 indicates a specific manufacturer’s pattern, consistent with high-quality Edwardian production.
