Two bowls walk into a room. Everyone stops talking. That's what happens when you put a pair of Moradabad brass peacock bowls on a table, a shelf, or literally anywhere — they have that effect. The scalloped rim, the deep red lacquer ground, the engraved peacock with its tail fanned out in full display, the floral border that covers every available surface in obsessive detail. Someone in Uttar Pradesh around 1900–1920 sat down with a piece of brass and a graving tool and did not stop until there was no blank space left. We respect this approach entirely.
Moradabad — known as the "Brass City" of India — has been producing decorative brassware of this quality since the Mughal period. The combination of engraved brass with coloured lacquer inlay is a signature technique of the region. These bowls are the real thing: heavy, hand-engraved, with the kind of patina that only comes from a century of existing.

WARNING: The peacock on the inside of these bowls is judging you. Not harshly — it's been doing this for over a hundred years and has developed a certain philosophical detachment about the whole thing. Maison de L'oro suggests you judge it right back and call it even.
