The hallmark stamped into the silver reads 925 — sterling silver, confirmed — alongside the maker's mark from Macerata, a city in Le Marche, Italy, with a long tradition of fine silversmithing.

The lid sits perfectly on the base. The velvet interior is clean and intact. The silver has developed a warm, natural patina that suits the Rococo style perfectly — this is not a piece that should be over-polished.
