This is the kind of jewellery box that makes you want to own more jewellery. A deep cherrywood base with beautifully rounded corners and a high-gloss lacquer finish, lined inside with rich purple velvet — and on top, a sterling silver lid in full Rococo splendour: repousse acanthus leaves, swirling scrollwork, and shell motifs framing a polished cartouche, all in high relief. The hallmark stamped into the silver reads 925 — sterling silver, confirmed — alongside the maker's mark from Macerata, a city in Le Marche, Italy, with a long tradition of fine silversmithing.
The lid sits perfectly on the base. The velvet interior is clean and intact. The silver has developed a warm, natural patina that suits the Rococo style perfectly — this is not a piece that should be over-polished.
A genuinely beautiful object, made to last and to be passed on.
