This is not a decorative object. This is a statement. A very large, very green, very heavy statement. This large Murano glass dove sculpture from circa the 1970s weighs 1,806 grams — nearly two kilograms of solid hand-blown Italian glass shaped into a bird with the kind of fluid, confident lines that only a Murano glassblower with decades of experience could pull off.
The colour is a deep, luminous emerald green that shifts from rich forest tones in the body to a lighter, almost lime transparency in the wings and tail. The form is beautifully abstracted — not a literal pigeon, but the idea of a dove, captured in glass at the exact moment it decides it's too dignified to actually fly anywhere. The triangular base gives it a sculptural presence that works equally well on a shelf, a sideboard, or a plinth.
One small note on condition: there is a tiny chip missing from the tip of one wing — clearly visible in the close-up photograph. It does not affect the overall appearance of the piece from any normal viewing angle, and frankly, for a solid glass sculpture that has survived 50-odd years, a single small chip is practically a certificate of authenticity. Everything else is perfect.
