William Hutton & Sons Silver-Plated Old English Serving Spoon, c.1880

Meet your new favourite serving spoon. This is a classic Old English pattern serving spoon by William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield — one of the great Victorian cutlery houses — made around 1880 and still looking absolutely the part nearly 150 years later.

The bowl is generously sized, the handle has that satisfying weight and balance that modern stainless steel simply cannot replicate, and the silver plate is in good vintage condition with a warm, lived-in patina. This is a spoon that has clearly been at some very good dinner tables. It deserves to be at yours.

William Hutton & Sons were known for producing high-quality electroplated silverware throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras, and this piece is a fine example of their craft — solid, well-proportioned, and built to last another century without breaking a sweat.
