Mappin EPNS A1 Silver-Plated Serving Spoon with Patina, c.1890

Some things get better with age. Wine. Cheese. This serving spoon. Made by Mappin of Sheffield around 1890, this is a large Old English pattern serving spoon that has clearly lived a full and useful life — and has the honest patina to prove it.

Yes, there are some light usage marks. But here's the thing: those aren't flaws. Those are stories. This spoon has been at Victorian dinner tables, Edwardian Sunday lunches, and probably a few very good roasts in between. It has earned its character, and it wears it well.

The bowl is generously proportioned, the handle has that satisfying solid weight, and the EPNS A1 silver plate — the highest quality grade — is still very much present and correct. This is a working antique that looks great and serves even better.
