If jewellery boxes had a social hierarchy, this Limoges piece would be sitting at the head of the table, wearing a crown, and not apologising for it.
Made by L.F. Fine Porcelain Limoges — one of the most respected names in French porcelain — this stunning jewellery box dates from around 1970 and is everything you'd expect from Limoges: rich cobalt blue, lavish 22k gold Rococo scrollwork, and a hand-painted central scene depicting elegantly dressed ladies in a classical garden setting. The kind of scene that makes you want to pour yourself a glass of something and pretend you live in a château.
The lid features a beautifully detailed oval medallion with four figures in period dress, surrounded by gilded acanthus leaves and floral sprays. The base is equally impressive — deep cobalt with raised gold decoration on every panel. Open it up and you'll find a clean white interior, perfectly sized for rings, earrings, brooches, or whatever treasures deserve a proper home.
