Limoges Hand-Painted Rose Bouquet Trinket Tray, Décor Main – c.1960

Let’s be clear about what Décor Main means: this was painted by hand. By an actual human. With a brush. The floral bouquet at the centre of this Limoges porcelain trinket tray is signed by the artist — you can see their initials tucked quietly among the roses, as if to say yes, I did that, you’re welcome.

The tray is a Rococo dream: a wide bordeaux-crimson border with undulating scalloped edges, entirely gilded with scrolling gold foliate motifs that curl and dance along the rim. At the centre, on a clean ivory-white ground, sits a loose, naturalistic bouquet — a full-blown pink rose, a warm yellow rose, blue forget-me-nots and trailing green foliage. It is confident, warm and completely hand-painted. No two are alike. Which is sort of the point.

The backstamp confirms it all: the Limoges crown mark with the Décor Main stamp beneath — indicating it was decorated by hand in Limoges. The original gold shop label is still present. Someone bought this new, kept it carefully for 60+ years, and now it’s yours.
