If you've ever been to Malta and walked past the Mdina Glass studio, you'll know exactly what this is. If you haven't — welcome to one of the best-kept secrets in European art glass. Mdina Glass was founded in 1968 by Michael Harris, a British glassmaker who moved to Malta, fell in love with the island, and started making some of the most distinctive glass of the 20th century. This vase is a textbook example of why.

The body is a swirling blend of dusty pink and steel blue, marbled together in that unmistakable Mdina way — no two pieces ever identical. The exterior is wrapped in applied spiral ribs that catch the light and give the surface a tactile, almost architectural quality. The flared rim and the view straight down into the interior (a hypnotic spiral of pink and blue) are the finishing touches of something made by someone who genuinely cared about what they were doing.

Heavy in the hand, beautiful from every angle, and in excellent vintage condition.
