Someone at Mikasa in the 1970s looked at Art Nouveau, looked at a block of crystal, and thought: yes. All of it. The swirls, the iridescence, the organic drama — all of it, in one bowl. And then they made it 38 centimetres wide and 2.2 kilos heavy, just to make absolutely sure nobody would ever mistake it for something ordinary.
This is a large decorative crystal bowl in Mikasa's signature swirl design — deep, flowing ridges that spiral outward from the centre like a frozen wave, catching light in every direction and throwing it back in shades of gold, amber, rose, and violet. The iridescent finish shifts with every angle. Put it on a table, a sideboard, a plinth — it doesn't matter. It will immediately become the most interesting thing in the room.
The form is pure Art Nouveau revival: nature-inspired, fluid, unapologetically decorative. The kind of piece that makes minimalists nervous and everyone else very happy.
