Here it is again — another piece from one of the most underrated glassmaking traditions in Europe. This is a mouth-blown Frisian thread glass carafe with original ball stopper, made in Friesland, the Netherlands, around 1900. And yes, it still has its stopper. Do you have any idea how rare that is? The stopper survival rate on antique carafes is roughly equivalent to the survival rate of New Year's resolutions.

The body is covered in those signature fine glass threads, wound in tight horizontal spirals around the entire surface — a technique that required a glassblower to apply molten thread by hand while rotating the piece. One wrong move and the whole thing was ruined. These people had nerves of steel and lungs to match.

The applied handle is elegant and sturdy, the ball stopper sits perfectly, and the whole piece has that slightly warm, faintly greenish tint that old Dutch glass develops over time — not a flaw, but a fingerprint of age and authenticity.

Dimensions: 19 x 10 cm
Weight: 350 grams
Technique: Mouth-blown with applied thread decoration
Origin: Friesland, the Netherlands
Year: circa 1900
Condition: Excellent — original stopper present, no chips or cracks

Pour something good into it. Or just leave it empty on a shelf and let it do its thing. Either way, it wins.

WARNING: Acquiring this carafe may trigger an uncontrollable interest in Frisian thread glass, leading to the purchase of multiple additional pieces. Maison de L'oro has been informed that this is "a problem" by several customers. We prefer to call it "developing excellent taste." You have been warned.
