Two sets of hand-painted Soviet matryoshkas from the 1950s, each from a different region of the USSR — and each with a very distinct personality. The red set is bold and folk-art fierce, with vivid floral motifs in hot pink and crimson. The black set is more refined, with gold detailing and floral medallions, and the kind of serious expression that says "I have survived things you cannot imagine."

Each set nests 5 dolls inside one another, because apparently one doll was never enough in Soviet Russia. Hand-painted with visible brushwork, lacquered finish, and all the charm of mid-century folk craft. The kind of thing that looks incredible on a shelf and makes every guest ask where you got them.

  • Period: 1950s, USSR
  • Material: Turned wood, hand-painted, lacquered
  • Pieces per set: 5 nesting dolls
  • Red set: 14 × 7.5 cm (largest doll) | 170 grams
  • Black set: 14 × 7 cm (largest doll) | 153 grams
  • Condition: Good vintage condition — minor wear consistent with age and use

WARNING: These dolls contain more dolls. And those dolls contain more dolls. We cannot guarantee you won't spend 20 minutes opening and closing them while making increasingly satisfied sounds. Maison de L'oro accepts no responsibility for any lost productivity, existential thoughts about infinity, or sudden interest in Soviet folk art that may follow.
