Vintage Cut Crystal Fruit Bowl on Four Ball Feet with Pinwheel & Scalloped Rim, c.1930

Two kilos of hand-cut crystal. Let that sink in. This is not a bowl that sits quietly in the corner — this is a bowl that takes up space, commands attention, and makes a pile of apples look like a still life painting. Which is exactly what a proper fruit bowl should do.

The cutting is extraordinary and covers every surface without a single millimetre of breathing room: the exterior is wrapped in deep diamond hobnail cuts at the base, transitioning into sweeping diagonal mitre cuts and fan motifs on the upper body. The interior is engraved with flowing pinwheel starbursts, delicate leaf sprays, and tiny six-pointed star rosettes scattered across the base like a constellation. The rim is finished with a classic scalloped edge — each scallop individually cut and polished. And then there are the four solid crystal ball feet, each one faceted, because apparently the craftsman had energy to spare.

This is the kind of centrepiece that makes a dining table look like it belongs in a country house. Or a living room sideboard. Or honestly anywhere that deserves 2 kilos of exceptional craftsmanship.
