Someone, somewhere in the 1960s or 70s, sat down and carefully pressed and arranged these flowers with extraordinary patience and a very steady hand. The result is this beautiful oval pressed flower picture: a lush bouquet of anemones, heather, grasses, and foliage, all perfectly preserved behind glass in a gorgeous gilt wooden frame.
The frame itself is Louis XVI-inspired — oval, with a beaded inner edge and four cast floral rosettes at the cardinal points. It's the kind of frame that makes everything inside it look important. The gilding shows natural age and gentle wear, which only adds to the warmth and character of the piece.
The pressed flowers have aged to beautiful warm sepia and brown tones — the anemones with their dark centres are particularly striking. A brass hanging ring is fitted on the reverse, so it's ready to go straight on your wall.
